Hard work, school and personal relations are the prime difficulties of a young
adult, especially if sustaining happiness is a priority. Throughout my childhood I suffered
from depression, social anxiety and the fear of being judged. Given, it was hard to make
friends or to trust certain individuals because I learned the hard way that the friends who
I trusted were the ones who back stabbed me the most. Once I was 17, a senior in high
school, I decided to fight this threshold of holding back grudges and being suicidal. This
was my year to finally mold into the best version of myself. I started to pursue
everything I enjoyed, I began to pick up a paintbrush and canvas to rekindle my love for
art, I got my license to feel the joy of freedom and I began working two jobs. My passion
for art turned into a love for makeup artistry that allowed me to build enough confidence
to film youtube videos regularly. I was at my prime. However, with every hill we climb,
we must come down.
Fast forward to my first year of college. The handful of friends I befriended in my
last year of high school were now attending schools all across California, the
relationship I had with my boyfriend soon turned toxic and I was back to where I started,
depressed and filled with social anxiety. For the first two years of college, I found it so
difficult to be happy and leave my comfort zone to initiate conversation with others. This
semester was by far the best semester I’ve experienced. Such a roller coaster of
emotions swept through this spring season. In January, I was contemplating my life
again and asking myself if all this hard work was worth it. I took time off work to focus on
