1. The cost of first-class forever stamps increases.
2. Due to additional methods of communication, mail is not as popular as it used
to be.
3. Demand shifters: Number of buyers decreased, causing the demand curve to
shift to the left.
Supply shifters: Business productivity, number of sellers, expectations, and
prices all point to a decrease in supply causing the supply curve to shift to the
left.
4. The equilibrium price has increased, which is in line with what my article
states. The article says that this is the biggest increase by total cents in USPS
history and prices will inevitably increase again. My article does not predict an
equilibrium quantity for stamps sold by USPS. My graph shows where the
quantity can increase decrease or stay the same. However, if the quantity
increases, this can place larger economic pressures on USPS and could result in
a decrease in prices.
