The article I chose for this assignment is Supervisor, Beware: Ethical Dangers in Supervision
located at http://www.socialworktoday.com/archive/julyaug2007p34.shtml. In this article I
learned there are many ethical dilemmas that affect the relationship of a supervisor and their
employees. I also learned that there are many ways to handle these situations, and the
responsibility not only lies with the supervisor but also with the employee.
The first thing I learned about was the various ethical dilemmas supervisor/employees face in the
work place. These ethical dilemmas include: (1) A supervisor complaining to an employee about
another employee, (2) A supervisor degrading an employee in front of other employees, (3) An
employee going to a supervisor about another lazy co-worker and it being ignored, (4) A
supervisor dumping their job duties onto an employee, (5) A supervisor having to put aside
personal relationships in the workplace and (6) A supervisor having an employee in need of
