Chapter: __15____________
Please read the course syllabus for full expectations.
- The problem-solving assignments MUST be submitted in the template provided on the course blackboard. This
assignment must be converted to PDF and submitted in PDF format to the course Blackboard by the due date.
- Unless otherwise mentioned, students are required to WRITE the assignments with pen/pencil neatly in a way that it
is easy to read and clear.
- Your professor may give your grade based on your efforts, and may deduct grade if your submission is not cleanly
and clearly presented. So, if you get a high grade or low grade it does not mean your work was very correct or incorrect.
You may receive a high or full grade if your professor evaluates and concludes that you have put excellent effort and
the mistake/s are minor or rare. You may also loose grade if your work is completely correct but it's presentation is
not properly clean and clear. This assessment format does not apply to exams.
- Unless otherwise mentioned, you need to INSERT the scanned pages you have written with pen/pencil into the
Template and convert it into PDF format before uploading. You may use an average scanner. I have seen most students
are able to take a good quality picture of their work with their smart phones. However, these students understand how
to adjust the LIGHTING and other settings on their phone to get excellent quality pictures. If you are not able to do
so, please use a scanner or learn how it can be done with a smart phone.
- ONLY ONE problem on each page. You may present one problem in more than one page, but you should NOT
have more than ONE problem on each page.
- Unless otherwise mentioned, in answering the problem you are required to write with pen/pencil-part of the problem
including tables of numbers and graphs. Make sure to use a ruler when you are drawing the tables.
- When you are asked to use EXCEL, please use Excel for calculations and Copy/paste graphs/tables/etc. or INSERT
the PRINTSCREEN of your EXCEL table & Graph & Formula to the Template provided whenever is applicable.
- If two or more works are similar both or ALL the parties will receive zero and reported to the office of the dean.
- Problem-solving assignments are INDIVIDUAL works. Students are encouraged to study together, but each student
should do his/her individual assignment
- Students MUST present the problems in the template in the SAME ORDER presented in the course schedule and/or
assignment template. IF you put the problems in WRONG order, and/or put wrong page/problem numbers you may
receive ZERO.
- Please pay attention to the guidelines and do not ask for exceptions.
- For problems that you have the answers in the textbook, please note that the whole point of the assignment is for you
to read the textbook, read the solution, learn it, close the textbook, and write the answer neat and clear. If you just
copy from the text, you are cheating yourself, and preventing yourself the opportunity to learn. If you learn the
foundations you will easily progress through this course. If you skip some learning opportunities, as we go forward
you may get confused. You will see how easy the early assignments are, but they gradually start to get more complex.
Please make sure to follow the learning guidance I provided here.

A-1 Forecasting can be classified into three time-frames. Name and briefly explain these
three classifications of forecasting [hint: read page 700]
A variety of focasting methods exist and their applicability is dependent on time frame of the
forecast. There are different factors of forecasting. 1. Short range forecast which encompass the
immediate future and are concerned with the daily operations of a business firm, such as daily
demand or resource requirement. A medium-range forecast encompasses anywhere from 1-2
months to 1 year, this is closely related to a yearly productions plan and will reflect such items as
