Summary of “Human Brain Development, Nature and Nurture”
The brain develops itself through a complex interplay of both nature and nurture. In other words
it simply builds itself up by reacting to inborn tendencies and external stimuli. The brains
development specifically in toddlers appears to be quite complex since at an early age a child is
able to visually discriminate and is able to react to its needs by actions such as crying when
hungry. This in turn occurs because the child’s brain is able to form neurotic connections very
quickly and the neural fiber and Synaptic cleft are able to adapt more readily in childhood as
compared to any other life span stage of a given individual. The brain and its components when
physically or visually examined do not fully develop until twenty to twenty five years of age.
With the passage of time the brain also starts to specialize and this is the result of neuroplasticity.
In other words the brain tends to mold itself according to its more predominant uses. An
