In order to be a successful manager, one would need the following skills: communication,
motivation, critical thinking, time management, collaboration, organization, and strategic
thinking. In order to be a successful leader, one would need the following skills: honesty,
integrity, communication, professionalism, and motivation. Some of the skills needed to be a
successful manager and a successful leader directly align. In order to successfully manage a
department, one must be able to communicate with all members of the department and other
departments as well. A successful manager may have to motivate his/her subordinates when
needing to meet an organizational goal or carry out an organizational mission.
A very important aspect of being both a successful manager and leader is time
management. There are many things that need to be completed on a daily basis but in most
cases; there are only eight hours within a manager’s work schedule to complete these tasks. One
