Successfully homeless, Successful homeless
Out of the four given poems, the one that spoke to me the most about homeless teens was
Success. The poem’s first lines goes “Everyone’s version of success is different. What do you
want?” When I read the first line I began to think about how it can be interpreted differently. I
started to compare myself, a college student, and a homeless teen who is a part of the LGBTQ+
community. My biggest concern in life right now is to write this paper to get a good grade to
better my GPA, to hopefully become successful when I finish this class and eventually graduate
college. A homeless teen in the LGBTQ+ community’s biggest concern is to probably get away
from an abusive and/or unsupportive family, and when they find a safe space, to them that is a
success. I believe that success is more recognized by having a ceremony or being applauded, but
that is not all success is. Success is not always being awarded in accomplishments, certificates,
