Success in life and college does require planning, effort, execution and self-discipline. It is
very challenging to attend college and take care of a family; not to mention that I have
graduated from high school ten years ago. Of course, that is a part of life, you live and
learn through the mistakes and the decisions you make. One thing that really helped me in
my college decision is that I have my full family support. In effort to accomplish my goals
in life and college, I have a daily planner that I keep with me at all times. My planner is
glued to me just like how some people are glued to their cell phones; it is my life.
It was especially challenging in the first few years of me moving out and being on my own
because of a breakout from my family and because of Hurricane Katrina. It was really
difficult to hold a full time job and attend college full time. My parents were hundreds of
miles away; the support system I had several years ago is not the same support I have now.
The support I have now is somewhat less stressful because I can attend school full time
and go to work full time if I so choose to. I am less worried about having to have a full
time job to financially take care of myself. It is more of like an option now versus years
