Adolescent Substance Use & Abuse
In this writeup, I will talk about the connection between parents’ use of technology
and adolescent substance abuse. We will discuss the problems associated with how parents
use technology and what effect it can have on adolescents. I will also discuss my thoughts on
how children today have a harder time keeping away from technology, which allows parents
to keep closer tabs on what their children are doing.
Parents knowing the location of their children is an essential protective factor in
dissuading their use of drugs and alcohol during adolescence. One strategy used by some
parents to obtain parental knowledge is through the use of technology. It has shown a
direct correlation for preventing youth substance use and promoting positive youth
