The general definition to psychology is the study of mental activity and behaviors. The
term psychologist is used broadly to describe a professional whose career involves understanding
mental life or predicting behavior of individuals. (Gazzaniga, Heatherton, & Halpern, 2016) There
are many subfields of psychology that focus on the different aspects of psychology such as,
cognitive, developmental, personality, social, cultural, clinical, counseling, school, and industrial.
Each provide their own specialties and research areas that can be broken down even further. The
three subfield areas that interest me the most are industrial and organizational, counseling and
cultural psychology.
Industrial and organizational psychology probably interests me most professionally
because I have been in business environments most of my professional career and I want to become
