Some of the strengths of the current long-term care system include, but are not limited to:
dedication of caregivers, focus on customer service, response to changing needs, and
innovative types of care. So many people within the healthcare industry are incredibly
dedicated and passionate about what they do. That is a major strength! Passion and
dedication drive these people to do their very best to ensure amazing care and a wonderful
environment for people within the long-term care system. Administration and caregivers
alike play a role in bettering the system. Since many aspects of healthcare are
ever-changing and evolving, the people involved in the industry must rely on innovative
ideas and respond to the changing needs with intelligent and useful applied techniques to
offer the best long-term care that they can.
Unfortunately, the weaknesses of the current long-term care system seem to outweigh the
benefits. There is a poor public image of the long-term care system. There are so many
people who use, or will use the long-term care system yet, it is overshadowed by the acute
healthcare system. Acute healthcare is always in the public eye, and it easily takes the
spotlight over long-term care; even though so many people need the services of a
long-term care facility. For most people, the use of long-term care comes near the end of
their lives, or when they’re elderly. Most acute care takes place during youth and
adulthood. Perhaps not much thought it given to the care that we will need in our later
