Local election in Korea
Upcoming 6.4 local election is the election of voting for the candidates of a local assembly
man, a local government head, a superintendent of education, and an educational
committee. Korea uses kind of additional member system to elect a provincial member and
a local district councilor. A proportion of seats are filled by the FPTP system using
single-member constituencies and the remaining seats are filled by using a proportional
system.

Because they put emphasis on a social security system and a social welfare within the
scope of Liberalism, both parties like modern political parties of other countries are close
to Social Liberalism. In other words, contrary to our expectation, they actually do not take
completely opposite stand like a conflict composition of left-wing vs. right-wing.
So, who support them? – Party-identification model & antiparty
Traditionally, Sanuri party and the Democratic Party have got strong endorsement based
on local area. Stronghold of the Democratic Party is Honam District and that of Saenuri
party is Yeongnam District. These strong supports have been connected to psychological
attachment to each party and then it’s confirmed to party identification now.
New Political Vision Party had been supported by enthusiastic supporters who felt a strong
hatred toward exiting politic culture and gave welcome to Cheol-su Ahn regarded as
‘different politician’. New Political Vision Party used the slogan “de-location, de-ideology
and people of every class” to persuade centrist especially and it was successful. These
doctrines of New Political Vision Party even were similar to features of antiparty and some
people expected new future of politics.
