Headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, Walmart was founded by Sam Walton in 1962
and incorporated on October 31, 1969. They have over 11,000 stores spanning 27 different
countries, under a total of 71 banners, Walmart and Sam’s club being the most well-known of
them all. Walmart is way more than just planet Earth’s largest retailer. The finances, footprint,
and personnel of this mammoth organization dwarfs entire industries and countries. They have
an epic annual revenue of more than $400 Billion which eclipses the GDPs of more than 170
countries. Not to mention, their 2.1 Million employees would form the second largest standing
army on the planet. Their revenues in 2010 were bigger than the revenues of America’s largest
oil company, largest manufacturer, and largest pharmaceutical company. If Walmart were a
country, and their revenue was their national GDP, they would stand as the 25th largest economy
