The Storm That Swept Mexico Response Paper
Mexico has been going through turmoil for a century before Porfirio Diaz was elected
president of Mexico in 1877. He would rule the nation for 30 years with an iron fist. His flaw was
that he did increase the wealth, but he marginalized the working class and indigenous class. He
surrounded himself with cientificos, who controlled the wealth and implemented economic
policy, with little regard to the poorer classes. This led to strife and groaning throughout Mexico
in the lower classes. There is a revolution and the Porfiriato is ousted from power. The war is
finally over after more civil war in Mexico in 1920. The bloodshed continues because there is not
