1. I would resolve a conflict between a Baby Boomer manager that is worried about the
privacy and productivity aspects of social networking and a Generation Y employee who
wants to use these tools on the job by finding a happy medium. You cannot go fully one
way and upset the other Generations that you work with because using social networking
is not something the baby boomer generation is fully aware of. I would resolve this issue
by finding an appropriate fix, since the Baby Boomer is unaware of how social media
networking might benefit them, we can make sure whatever is posted from the Generation
Y employee is ran past the Baby Boomer manager to make sure too much privacy is not
exposed. Also share perceptions let the Baby Boomer see what pros outweigh the cons in
this situation and it will not only benefit Generation Y but it will allow the Baby Boomer
to see inside the new generation. Overall this situation will allow each generation to learn
from one another.
2. Considering the range from the Radio Generation to the Net Generation you can see that
the possible influence of technology increases throughout the years. This tells you that as
we progress into each generation technology is not too far behind to follow. Even if you
look around today there are many items even in schools that we couldn’t even think of. I
remember it was a big deal when the laptops first began appearing in classrooms. Now
students have iPads and other technological devices they are using on a day to day basis.
