Who knew a five letter word could be so powerful? The word “bitch” has been personified
toward the female perspective in a horrendous way. Society has made the word become a
bad way of viewing women with the constant reminder of what they believe a bitch is. No
matter how much a person can care if they are called a “bitch” or not, it should never be
taken in a positive sense. Many people can agree that the word bitch is used as a
derogatory word used to degrade women with a negative connotation. Joreen’s “The
BITCH Manifesto” and the song “Call Her A Bitch” by Too Short, show completely
different views on the word “bitch” and how people should take the word from their point
of view throughout society when the word should not be used towards people at all, only
dogs, hence the definition “female dog.”
Though the meaning of a “bitch” is viewed as a “bad word” or something a woman would
never want to be called, Joreen seems to think otherwise. “The BITCH Manifesto was
created in 1968 by Joreen, defining the word “bitch” and how people should react to being
a bitch. To Joreen, “BITCH does not use this word in the negative sense. A woman should
be proud to declare she is a Bitch, because Bitch is Beautiful.” Yet she also goes on to say,
in her manifest, that “[a] Bitch is blunt, direct, arrogant, at times egotistic.” Joreen believes
that a bitch should be something a woman is honored to be. She also goes on saying
