My journey in finance started in June of 2006. That was when I joined TransMarket Group
Research India Pvt Ltd.(TMG), a global Proprietary Trading Group, after my post
graduation in Information Technology from IIT Kharagpur. At first, I thought that my
responsibility would be to develop trading software for the company. I was in for a very
pleasant surprise when they offered me a trading profile. Later, I learnt from my manager
that their decision of offering me a trader’s profile was based on my quantitative ability.
Even though there were many Proprietary Trading firms in India, none of them dealt with
the International Markets then. To speak the truth, I did not even know an iota about
trading. Slowly, but surely, I started loving what I was doing, not because it involved a lot
of money, but for the fact that it involved a lot of numbers and challenges every hour of the
day. I worked very hard, trying to understand the basics of the global financial markets. I
started applying my understanding to my strategies in trading and found success. Through
my hard work and dedication, I reached the rank of Trading Manager.
In the year 2009, I had the privilege of facing the biggest challenge of my career. I joined
Centaurus Financial Services as Vice President (Fixed Income/Commodities). Amidst the
global sub-prime turmoil, I was given the responsibility to set up a trading floor from the
inception. My duties included the management of risk capital, recruitment of traders and
development and implementation of strategies. We started with a small group of 5 traders
