Statement of Purpose
The urge to keep learning has been engrained in me ever since I was a toddler. The thirst to
quaff up every bit of information possible has always kept me curious to know more than I
already did.
Greed, some would call it. I beg to differ. This thirst was so immense that my parents knew
right from the beginning, that this quality in me had to be channelized in the right
direction. This was precisely what gave me the focus and made me a well-organized
person, not just with my education, but also with my extracurricular activities. Education,
according to me meant taking home the knowledge and putting it to
practical use rather than using it just to score good grades. During one of my Computer
lab classes at school, I wrote a C program with a slight improvisation and received a
completely unexpected output. This fetched me more than a couple of pats on my back. It
instilled in me, a strong desire to further my education in Computer Science. I knew then,
that the scope to expand
my knowledge of Computers was in all sense, limitless. This was the principal reason why
I chose Computer Science as my major in High School; it was the time when I was
introduced to more challenging programming languages like ‘C’ and ‘Java’. I also
commenced working on IDE’s like ‘Visual Basic’ which were quite enthralling to me; this
aided me to score a whopping
94% in my high school finals. I pursued my under graduation in Information Technology
at St. Joseph’s College Of Engineering, which is ranked among the top five institutions in
the region. Taking up Information Technology as my stream assisted me in assimilating not
only the core concepts of Computer Science in depth, but also umpteen other appurtenant
subjects like Mobile Computing,
Mathematics and Telecommunication which though, do not belong to the pith of
Computer Science still fall within its sphere of influence. An under graduation from an
August institution such as Anna University helps a lot because, the curriculum is expertly
designed in such a way that a student captures the essence of all the key topics like
Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Networking, Databases etc., during the first 5
semesters. And in the final three semesters the student can choose his/her topics of interest
in order to gain expertise in the selected domain.
As a part of the curriculum as well as out of personal interest, I worked on a number of
