Staff Development Ideas and Examples and Their Effects on a Company
Abstract
Staff development is an important part of any company. A staff development program is
beneficial because it allows employees to reach their maximum potential. The program
should start with basic tasks and build on that to include more job duties. By building on
the staff member’s knowledge one step at a time, it allows time to process and learn each
step. Once a staff member has reached the extent of the training the company can provide
themselves, the staff member is ready to train other employees. At this point it can be very
rewarding and beneficial to send the employee to a seminar somewhere else. It both shows
appreciation and helps the company gain additional experience. Staff development can be
a large investment, but will ultimately pay off in better ability to do their jobs, better
customer service, and potentially more profit. It increases employee morale and makes the
company a better workplace
