1. Facebook acquired WhatsApp because the demographics of WhatsApp users
were a draw for Facebook. The demographics were a draw because it “ is clearly
also a play at securing their base of younger users who are married to text
messaging.” WhatsApp was growing rapidly and generating big revenues which
is another reason Facebook wanted to acquire WhatsApp. Seeing the success
WhatsApp had on its own attracted Facebook.
2. If I was Mark Zuckerberg I would leverage WhatsApp to increase profits at
Facebook by using ads. Consumers seem to be attracted to ads that promote
