1. I agree that employees that do not fit the company culture (“culture vampires”
and “zombies”) should be fired. Employees that do not fit the company culture
can cause a negative work environment. This can have a negative effect on
employees’ attitudes and mindset, it can also have a negative impact on
production. If the “culture vampires” are managers, the company culture can
become really bad. Managers that do not fit the company culture can introduce
negative workplace practices that can take years to undo. Managers that do not
fit the company culture can also have a negative impact on the rest of the team.
The team can be negatively affected if the managers are constantly undermining
the team’s ability to work well together and stay focused on the tasks at hand.
2. I don’t think there are circumstances under which I would not fire “culture
vampires”. If they negatively affect the company culture I see no reason to keep
them in the company. However, there are reasons why some companies might
choose not to fire the “culture vampires”. One reason is that there could be no
