C. Easter
1. As many of you already know, Easter is the Christian celebration of Christ’s resurrection
from the dead.
2. The date has a range of days that it follows rather than a set date like most holidays
have.
a. “Instead, Christian churches in the West celebrate Easter on the
first Sunday following the full moon after the vernal equinox on
March 21”(history.com)
b. This means that Easter may hit anywhere from March 22nd to
April 25th.
c. “Orthodox Christians use the Julian calendar to calculate when
Easter will occur and typically celebrate the holiday a week or two
after the Western churches, which follow the Gregorian
calendar.”(History.com)
d. Easter is typically celebrated in the spring and in many christian
denominations it is really an entire season.
e. Lent which is a period of penance and self-reflection.
