Speech Evaluation
Hesitation and nerves affects how a speaker can come off not confident. This happened to
me at the beginning of my speech but I put myself together, looked at my information, and
continued strongly. I had a strong introduction that really captured the attention of the
audience. The audience can tell that I built up confidence throughout the speech and it
helped that I had good eye contact with them. A couple times throughout the speech I
crossed my legs, which can come off as a bit awkward. I also said “eh” a few times and
that makes it seem like I am unorganized but it was actually just from the nerves.
My information was well organized and I made sure to only include the most important
and interesting facts about Pablo Escobar, I felt that giving information about how rich and
how obsessed he was with being on power were the strongest facts, however I did leave
out unnecessary facts that would bore the audience. It was also a good length, short enough
to get the point across and not long enough for anyone to fall asleep or get distracted. The
audience was left knowing the impact that Pablo Escobar had to Colombia and that was the
goal, to inform the class about how was Colombia during the 90’.
