For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Olivia House and I’m a sophomore at
Augsburg University here in Minneapolis where I am majoring in graphic design and business
economics. I am a part of Augsburg’s honors program and play on the women’s soccer team as
well.
I met The BrandLab when I was just a sophomore and had absolutely no idea what I wanted to
do after high school. But after that semester with The BrandLab, I knew that marketing and
advertising was something I wanted to find out more about. I wasn’t even going to apply for the
internship program, but on a whim made the decision to go for it. My first internship at
Wingnut Advertising was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I had never had any job
before, so there were so many things I to learn. That summer, I made so many connections,
friendships, and mentors, and I’m so thankful I was able to have that opportunity. After that
summer, I knew that advertising was something I wanted to pursue and since then, I never
looked back. I’ve had three other internships because of The BrandLab, including an internship
this past summer at Target. I have gone from being nervous talking to adults and those in
authority, to leading meetings with these same individuals. I’ve really grown up since that first
summer, and I have The BrandLab to thank for that.
The BrandLab is all about connecting talent to opportunity, but to me, The BrandLab connects
me to so much more. Without The BrandLab, I can honestly say that I have no idea what I’d be
doing right now. The BrandLab staff, as well as my mentors from my internships, gave me so
many resources and assistance with applying to college and finding scholarships. Because I was
