Outline for informative speech
Topic: CA Law to expel students for sexting.
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the new law of sexting in schools in CA.
I. Introduction
A. Greetings/Intro: Hello! I am Asiff Nuru and I am going to be talking to you
guys about the state California coming up with a new law to expel students from
school for sexting. Sexting is when a person sends a nude or sexual photos
electronically. The law would be “An electronic act with the purpose or effect of
humiliating or harassing a pupil.”
B. Establish Credibility: This was announced in the news recently, and I have
done some further research on it.
C. Relate to the Audience: I’m hoping to give you guys some knowledge on this
new law passed by CA.
D. Preview: I want to be focusing on my three points about CA’s new bill to be
published. First I will be talking about the expulsion of students. Second, I will
be talking about the discussion of sexting in the school’s health classes, and
lastly the opinions from experts whether the law should be published or not.
II. Body
A. Expulsion of students for sexting
1. According to Cyrus Farivar from Arstechnica website, the bill would give
administrators the option to expel or suspend students if they’re found
sexting (public schools with students under the age of 18).
2. This new law is going under the laws that already exists. For example, such
as cyberbullying, revenge porn, and pornography.
