Among the strongest sides of the documentary Speaking in Tongues is the extraordinary
ability to show that the language issue does not exist on its own, but rather highlights other social
concerns. Specifically, numerous inequities exist in the economic and academic sectors, which
only makes the need to have cross-cultural communication in the current century relevant. The
