Audience Analysis for the Society of Plastics Engineers
The Society of Plastics Engineers’ website, www.4spe.org , is intended for all students and
professionals, both young and experienced, who are interested in any aspect of the plastics industry.
This paper will first address what the Society of Plastics Engineers is and what they provide to its users.
Second, this paper will include information on the intended users of this site and some of their
demographics. Last, information on all the different divisions of the Society of Plastics Engineers will be
given. The website, www.4spe.org , is intended for everyone, and is not limited to those who just work
in the plastics industry, but anyone who is interested in the plastics field.
The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) is a professional society that is centered around uniting
plastics professionals from around the world. SPE is also not just for engineers of the plastics industry,
but also scientists, technical personnel, and even senior executives. Also, in order to become a member
of SPE, you do not need to have had a plastics background. One woman, named Barbara Debutts, is
featured on SPE’s website’s main page. Barbara started out her life loving art, and ended up majoring in
it in college. Now her life had taken a different turn, and she ended up working for a company who
works with plastics. In order to make her job easier on her, she decided to take a couple classes at a
local college that specializes in plastics. Now, she is a graduate research assistant at Virginia Tech, and
could not be more excited for what the future holds for her. The Society of Plastics Engineers also
emphasizes on their website that they will support everyone, no matter their education, gender, culture,
background, or age.
