Identification of Issues
While reading the Southern Toro Distributor, Inc. case study, there were some notable
issues. In the past, the owner, Joe, would rely on his gut feeling for managing inventory. Within
this particular line of business, weather plays a big deal, and the past couple of years the
company has had an excess supply of inventory due to very poor weather. Recently, Joe decided
to reach out to consultants to create a computer program that focused on an improving Southern
Toro’s inventory control via EOQ method. However, Joe has his concerns that the consultant
company did not accurately take into account all the information that was needed. The line of
