Case Analysis- The Solar Feeder
Overview
“The Solar Feeder” by Lew G. Brown and Emily Abercrombie is a case study by The University of North
Carolina at Greensboro. The topic of the case is the new “Solar Feeder” which is a bird feeder that has the
ability to also keep squirrels away. The new product received recognition for being “best new product” by
the Birdwatch America Convention. The awards led to higher demands and partnership potential.
Issue Identification
The first issue facing the Solar Feeder product is the lack of exposure. This issue was quickly resolved by
the product being showcased at the Habitat for Humanity auction earning the highest bid price and later
at the Bird Watch America trade show, winning the “Best New Product” award. The second issue would
