Soil Test Kit (STK)
• Is a quick method of evaluating the fertility status of a soil.
• It uses simple colorimetric chemical analysis in which chemical reagents are made.
• Is cheap, handy, quickly and easy to use.
• It is a product of research from the Department of Soil Science, University of the Philippines Los
Banos, Laguna.
• 19cm x 11 cm; 1kg; contains chemical reagents and color chart
• Fertilizer recommendation for different various fruit crops and the procedure for proper soil
sampling technique
• The Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) produces the STK for analysis of soil pH,
Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium
Reminders on the Use and Care of the Soil Test Kit
• Analyze or test only soils that are properly collected.
• Avoid contamination.
• Use clean and preferably dry test tube.
• Do not interchange droppers and caps.
• Do not smoke during soil sampling or analysis.
