Soft Information Analysis
My company’s mission is to lead businesses and service providers to transform information technology
(“IT”) operations to an “as a service” model (“ITaaS”). ITaaS o!ers a dramatically more e”cient delivery
model that helps transform IT organizations from cost centers to value drivers that are more agile, more
cost-e!ective and more responsive to business needs1. However, this wasn’t always my company’s
mission or core strategy. Going back just 10 years, my company was simply an IT hardware company
who primarily generated revenue by selling IT storage hardware, particularly Storage Area Networks
(SAN) and Network A/ached Storage devices (NAS) to enterprise customers. Heavy competition from
start-up companies big and small had provided pressure to lower price points, and that competition
continues today from the likes of my two comparison companies, NetApp and Teradata. But thanks to
MY COMPANY leadership’s strategy and vision, they have become a leading edge technology company
providing cloud technology and Professional Services to their ever changing customer base while the
hardware continues to trend downward to a relatively low cost commodity. This strategy has kept the
bottom line increasing billions of dollars every year.
In order to gain full perspective of my company’s place on Wall Street, I went back and looked at the
history of my company’s stock price even beyond the 10 years required for this assignment. It’s very
interesting the ups and downs this stock has seen over the life of the company. My company’s stock
started out at $.11 cents in 1988. It split 5 times during the 1990s and enjoyed a high closing price on
