The Male Sexual and Reproductive System
• Penis: The male sexual and urinary organ, containing the urethra
(carrier of urine and semen). The penis composed of corpora
cavernosa and corpus spongiosum, erectile tissues which fill with blood
as the penis becomes erect.
• Glans Penis: Often referred to as the head of the penis, it is very
sensitive to stimulation
• Root (of the penis): This portion of the penis is attached to internal
pelvic muscles and the perineum, located between the scrotum and the
anus.
• Scrotum: Loose and wrinkled pouch beneath the penis, which contains
the testes (testicles). The testes, the egg-shaped glands in the
scrotum, produce sperm and testosterone. Human sperm formation
requires approximately 72 days, yet 300 million sperm are produced
