Through observing the first 12 minutes of this movie named “Ayka”, I could clearly
see the trails of the capitalistic society. Firstly, the place that she worked at was not
equipped with any technology. They butchered the chickens by their hands, and it is a
very dirty job. In terms of an industrial society, the workplace is equipped with
technology that help the workers make the job much easier. There was no technology that
would involve less physical human activity. Secondly, in the capitalist society business
owners control the equipment of the workplace, the means of supply and the payment. In
the movie we see that the main character works under devastating and awful conditions.
When she was tired and needed to drink water, she did not have an opportunity to take a
break and get some clean water. Industrial society tends to provide better working
conditions for their workers. Thirdly, industrial society provides large amount of people
witch labor. Whereas, in capitalist society the “bosses” regulate those terms. For example,
in the movie there were not many people at that workplace. Only women in need of
money, or with other problems. I also want to mention the moment where the “business
owner” pays the women for their hard job under those circumstances with chicken that
they were butchering. In industrial society, the working places have advanced
technologies that provide better working conditions and higher payment. Not to mention
that the labor in industrial society is more specialized.
Throughout the twelve minutes of the film, I got to see the problems that some people
in our society might be facing. Problems of illegal labor, that violate labor and human
rights at the same time. Problems connected with poverty in our society, that activate the
“butterfly effect”, which leads to other significant problems. In post-soviet space, it is
much harder for individuals to realize themselves without crossing the lines of the law.
For that reason, the poor woman pressed by poverty and hard times had to abandon her
baby. She clearly understood and feared that she would not be able to raise that child in
good environment. This is a real problem, that some people have to go through tough
things like that. What is more upsetting, is that they do not have elsewhere to go or get
some assistance. In my personal view, these problems do not appear from nowhere. It is
mostly certain that they have a starting point, and one issue in her life led to another. For
instance, poverty pushing her to leave her newborn child (increases the number of
orphans). It is like roller coaster because there is no ending for these problems. Poverty
leads to crimes etc.
People always deal with their personal problems individually, and it is normal. Because
