In today’s society social media plays a major role in who people are or who they want to
be. Social media is a place where people “follow” others and share post for others to like,
comment, share etc. Depending on your social platform, audience, and moral beliefs you may
choose to display yourself in a certain way. I personally have many different social media
accounts and I can say on every single one I portray myself differently. I do things because I am
trying to uphold a reputation which is different for every audience. On each platform I have a
different status position and I switch roles throughout each social media. This forces me to
manage impressions to avoid role conflict within my social media.
Throughout the day everyone changes their status position from time to time. A status
position is “the position a person occupies in a particular setting.” We never even really notice it
