Smart Phones: Promoting Communication Connectedness or Disconnectedness?
•Can the basic interpersonal communication model be used as an aid in
understanding the impact of smartphone usage? If so, how?

This can lead to lack of empathy or faulty reaction to the communicator because
when communicating through smart phones, the perceptual screens my not be as
honest as they may be if the interaction were in person.
•How have smartphones transformed the way in which business people
communicate with regards to fulfilling their job responsibilities?

Yes, because instead of having to go to someone face to face or wait until they are
at their desktops to answer emails, they expect quick responses because email and
text message is now at the tip of their fingers
•How have smartphones transformed the way in which college students
communicate?
•
Smart Phones have made it harder for college kids to pay attention in class and
made them more distracted. It has also made college students less likely and less
adept to communicating in person.
•Do you think that as people become less connected interpersonally they become
less connected interpersonally? Why or Why not?
•
Yes. First of all, when people are so connected to their technology devices, they are
not interacting with the people they are with, which is already visible as you watch
groups of people who pay more attention to their phones then they do to each other.
Also, if people are so used to communicating via their smart phones, they are going
to have the guts to say anything over texting, but will most likely not say any of
what they are saying on the phone face-to-face….
