Excessive use of smartphone technology has been linked with lower
academic performance among students.
Smartphone technology has been used by many students in recent years,
especially university students. University students are willing to use their
mobile phone for entertainment or study. The mobile phone owners and usage
levels have increased during last several years. (James &Drennan 2005). The
university students may consider that smartphone technology has a positive
impact on academic performance. However, using smartphone technology
might have both advantages and disadvantages. Excessive use of
smartphone technology could be associated with lower academic
