I’m Not Sleepy Though
As I glaze at my television watching my favorite late night cartoon Bob’s Burgers, I turn
my head to the left to look at my clock. “Wow, it’s almost 4am and I have to wake in less
than two hours.” Why does my body tell me otherwise? My body will let me know if I
need to rest. If I am tired, I will rest but if I am not tired there’s no need for rest. That was
my outlook on sleeping until I researched it further.
The first thing that came to my mid was a eight letter word “insomnia”. As I looked into
insomnia further, I couldn’t suffer from insomnia. Insomnia is when you don’t get tired at
all, I actually get tired but not at the right time. The definition of Insomnia is when one has
trouble falling asleep or staying asleep even though you have had a full opportunity to get
a full night of sleep. I thought to myself, no, that’s not the case. As I researched more, two
words popped into my head, sleep deprivation. According to The National, Heart, Lung,
and Blood Institute, sleep deprivation is a condition that occurs if you don’t get enough
sleep. Not getting enough sleep can cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness, and
weight gain/ loss. Immediately after reading this information I knew I was sleep deprived.
This would explain me feeling exhausted during the day and having the “walking zombie”
