Human Slavery and how it Affect the World Today
Slavery helped build the United States of America. In fact, it was built on the backs of
thousands of Africans Americans. Although, I should use that statement with caution since for
many years African Americans was considered nothing but property to the white America. While
this may be the case, there was no such thing as a black family, no husband, or wife: they could
not even claim their children. Even with the U.S. Constitution in place African American people
were not included in any of those freedoms that came with the U.S. Constitution. Indeed, African
American families were always broken up with father’s being sold to another slave owner. In the
same way, African American children were being sold and African American mothers being rape
by her owner, and killed if she resisted. As a result, for 245 years the ideal of an African
American family was demolished and demoralized until the black family had no identity. For
instance, African American families could not get an education for hundreds of years leaving
thousands of blacks with no education. As a result, African American’s turned to committing
crimes to get by. Now, with slavery effecting African American families for hundreds of years
and leaving the African American’s without family values, education, and income inequality; it’s
no wonder that it has affected the modern black family of today.

Granted, blacks in the USA get a lot of criticism about how they have a high rate of
children being born without both parents in the household. On the other hand, people forget that
black families were raised without strong family values for over 245 years. However, people
think that since slavery does not exists as it did 245 years ago that society can just erase how the
black family was destroyed for those years. For instance, look at other ethnic families that did
not go through slavery the way blacks did; there tends to be a lot stronger family values present.
Although, what people learn comes from strong back grounds that usually go back
several hundred years with families being able to trace their back ground and can be proud of
their heritage. Now, with African American families there is not a strong family heritage;
sometimes they can’t even go back very far in their family tree. Because, families don’t know
where they came from or even their last name, and a lie was given to them by their slave owner.
