Re: Analysis of Pfizer in The Pharmaceutical Industry so that we can see what roadblocks
Pfizer may face due to external threats.
Date: February 19, 2021
Pfizer is a leader in the pharmaceutical industry, also known as “Big Pharma,” creating many
different medicines, treatments, and vaccinations. Companies in this industry perform
pharmaceutical research and development, manufacture ingredients used in medications, and
manufacture chemical and biological pharmaceutical products. This industry goes through
second tier suppliers – those that create the machinery that the company uses to create these
treatments, and first tier suppliers – organic and inorganic chemical manufacturers and medical
supply wholesalers. After the company manufacturers the drug or treatment, it is sold to
pharmacies, medical and psychiatric hospitals, nursing homes, and dentists.
The extent of the industry rivalry is the largest threat, with many companies releasing drugs and
treatments very similar or identical to those of Pfizer. An example of this would be Ibrofin.
