“Never Stopping”
I remember feeling a rush of excitement when I saw him walk through the
hospital doors for the second time. Ajax was back, the first patient I had the opportunity
to operate on. He had a massive aural hematoma the previous week before. His ear was
looking good, and to think I did it all by myself. I remember how nervous and exhilarated
I was when I was cutting into the dog’s ear with a scalpel to drain the blood out and clean
the insides. When I saw that he was safe and healthy post-surgery, my whole day
transformed into brimming with pride and contentment. Moments like this are what I live
for.
