INTRODUCTION
In today’s modern age, almost every child has a cellphone. Therefore, the use of
cellphones in schools has become an issue. Most children believe that the use of
cellphones in school is harmless, while parents and teachers have expressed
concern. Of course, there are always advantages and disadvantages of having a
cellphone. This project seeks to discover if the disadvantages are greater than the
advantages.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
In this information age, cell phones have become common among students.
Smartphones are relied upon on a daily basis and for many children, they are an
important part of their existence. At our school, many children have a cellphone
even in kindergarten. Children use their cellphones often during the lunch break
and some even try to use it in class. Many think that the cell phones give students
access to technology which could be useful in learning, but most of our teachers
are concerned that the use of cellphones in schools is a big distraction.
Therefore, my classmates and I decided that this would be a good topic to
research, since it is something that applies to all of us. We wanted to know if
cellphones should really be allowed in schools and what effect it had on students.
REASON FOR SELECTING AREA OF RESEARCH
We chose to research this issue because between teachers and students have
different thoughts about the use of cell phones. We believe that the use of cell
phones during school hours is harmless and to rob students of this is being
unnecessarily strict. However, since it is still banned and often discouraged by
