Communication is the strongest form of connecting with other people or
another way, severs the link between you and everyone. From Sherry Turkle’s talk
titled “Connected, but Alone” she vividly describes of how we are achieving the
communication that goes beyond several distance away and the baffling fact that
we are slowly engorged in our technological devices to communicate but forgetting
the true essence of communicating with each other. Her thoughts about the state of
how I communicate with another are becoming more and more relevant to me even
if her talk was more than 8 years ago. Nothing best of an example of people around
us today, they are physically together but their eyes are glued on their
technological gadgets, being busy and unaware of the people around them. A line
from her talk saying parents, text and do emails at breakfast and at dinner while
their children complain about not having their parents’ full attention, but then the
same children deny each other their full attention” shows that even on the most
basic unit of society, technology has been detrimental to the building of strong
connection between family members. She also flatly pointed out that that some of
the people in work are complaining that their workmates are delving into less
conversation aside from the work related talks that they are doing. According to
Villines (2014), people who text or use messaging apps are the ones most likely to
be socially awkward. This implies that aside from the fact that the individuals that
keep their eyes stuck to their phones and being devoid of the presence of the
people around them, the prolonged exposure to their devices makes them a bad
conversationalists when talking with other people. In my own honest opinion, I
believe that connecting to people through different technological devices may not
be bad, but still highly different from connecting with other people through physical
contact. In a general sense, moderate the use of gadgets to communicate with
