The Music In My Life
My mom really loves singing, so she always plays different music to me since I was a
little girl. Therefore, my passion in music grew up with me for such a long time. At first, I
didn’t have a clear idea about what style of music I love, and just listen to some popular
music that all the people listen to. However, when I was in middle school, I found a Hong
Kong singer, who is called Khalil Fang.
I knew him is because he covered a very famous old song which is called “nothing’s
gonna change my love for you”. This song is a very typical pop music, but Khalil Fang
change it with a new style which labeled his name. At that time, I started to know that
he’s very special music style is called R&B (Rhythm and Blues). This kind of music style
is really melodious, because it combines a lot of instruments, such as piano, guitar,
saxophone, drum, etc. Also, it has a strong sense of rhythm with a changeable timber,
which really makes the R&B complicate but also interesting.
R&B brings a new musical world to me, which let me know that different
instruments can be put together, not only one or two. Also, the melody can change a lot
instead of repeat the main theme. Most important, the R&B also can have influence on
the other style of music, such as blues, soul, pop, disco, funk, and jazz; because it is the
style which combined a lot of musical elements.
R&B has a special sentimental value to me since it is the first music style which I
really understand and love. At first, people in my country are not a big fan of the R&B
style, because people all love pop music at that time. Therefore, when I told other
people that, “My favorite style is R&B and my favorite musician is Khalil Fang.” Most of
