The Perceptual Process
– Sensation involves detecting elementary properties of stimulus and perception involves the
higher brain functions involved in interpreting events and objects.
Distal and Proximity Stimuli (Steps 1 and 2)
The reflection of light from the tree introduces one of the central principles of peception, the
principle of transformation.
-principle of transformation- stimuli and responses created by stimuli are transformed, or
changed, between the distal stimulus and perception.
