Seminar 9
I am so bummed I missed our last seminar I have really enjoyed them. You started off by greeting
everyone and going over the housekeeping on what we could and could not still turn in at this point. I
know discussion boards were not my strong point this semester no excuse life just been crazy, and my
time management has been out there. You reminded everyone to do the final exam as well as the final
draft of the memorandum. I thought the exam was fairly easy I just studied my old tests like I did with
midterm and did pretty well, I think. I have you in Ethics next term as well I am hoping things will be a
little better hopeful but worried since summer camps have been canceled here and I still have the kids
round the clock. I love Professor Atkins she is really nice. How is Concord Law School? I’ve been thinking
about it I’m on the fence I was more gung-ho before this semester but now I worry it may be too tough
for me. I had the Nuns for the beginning of elementary school and I’m only 36 they were still hard core
when I was a kid. You mentioned several people skipped the unit 8 quiz so far and that they would close
on the last day of class. So, this week we are going to discuss specific types of writing that we will be
doing as a legal professional. Legal writing is much more specific than other types of writing because
legal writing has a distinct form and purpose. Legal writing is also objective you must present an honest
status of the law. You can write persuasively depending on the type of writing, but it must be honest. In
legal writing you always write in the third person. When bringing in facts it is important to only bring in
the legally relevant facts not every fact you can muster. I find texting really brings chatspeak out of me
that I would never use in a paper or email. You talked about how important paying attention to detail is
and how the quizzes and discussion boards are all to help train us to find the details because missing a
detail can mean the difference between being right or wrong. I’m still not 100 percent comfortable with
