“Machine perception is the capability of a computer system to interpret data in a manner that is
similar to the way humans use their senses to relate to the world around them.”(1) Modern day
computers have multiple capabilities that are similar to the human senses. With facial
recognition technology, computers have proven they are capable of sight. Amazon’s Alexa
products make it possible to ask questions and play games without ever touching a computer. I
believe that more sensory technologies would be extremely helpful in the medical field,
especially for amputees. MIT is currently working on new technology that “could allow prosthetic
limbs to feel more like natural limbs”. (2)
Computer Memories are much more advanced and reliable than the human brain. Humans are
capable of forgetting information over periods of time. When it comes to computers, once they
are “taught” something, unless their system crashes, they are not going to all of a sudden forget
