Self-Evaluation.
With reviewing the speeches that I have completed I have seen the mess ups, the cover
ups, and the successes that I made during the speeches. Though out the class I have gained
the knowledge that has helped me succeed. Like how to introduce the subject of the speech
along with smoothly moving from one point to the next by using transitions. Also how to
properly sum up my speech and end with a challenge or a story. Some of the mess ups,
cover ups, and the successes where shown in the grade that I earned.
My mess ups include and are not limited to word fillers, playing with my clothes, and not
staying in one place while giving my speech. The word fillers include umm, well, and,
like. While watching my speeches I realized that I was playing with my clothes too much
and I could see that being distracting to the audience. Staying in one place was a big
problem when I gave my Special Olympics speech because the pants that I had on were
flowy and it was distracting to me while I was watching it and I now know that it was
distracting to the audience as well.
My cover ups include repeating myself, making long pauses to rethink what I am about to
say, and looking around the room instead of looking at the audience, and messing with my
hair. When I repeated myself it was because I was nervous. I should have practiced more
