“Colleges have to do more than just recruit a more diverse student body and faculty…
they must also work to increase their knowledge about different groups of people” (Gardner).
These remarks were made to illustrate a possible resolution to help with concluding racism on
college campuses. White individuals receive unearned privileges in their daily lives and typically
remain unaware that they have benefits unavailable to others in society; this is known as white
privilege. Addressing white privilege can increase awareness of the presence of racism in
modern society, as well as the ways in which it is manifested. The act of weeding out black
people can cause a hostile environment to be established (Boatright– Horowitz, 700).
Predominantly White Institutions (PWI) should actively promote anti-racism in order to prevent
distress and dropouts from minorities because the recognition of diversity as an educational asset
