It’s a beautiful day at Booth School of Business with the orientation room is filled with
newly admitted aspiring business professionals. Excitement fills the air as the chirpy
students begin introductions, speaking about their interests and favorites. As Susan
introduces herself, she mentions about her favorite movie “Titanic” and a discussion pops
about how the unsinkable sank. As the rest of the group and Susan dive into a deep
investigation of causes that led to the mishap, another voice explained how it was a
material failure. He explained how at sub-zero temperatures, the impact energy required to
fracture steel is very less; and how the iceberg crack opened the ship’s steel hull making it
a brittle fracture. Everyone in the group was fascinated and wanted to know more about
him.
He mentioned that he is a materials engineer with extensive knowledge in materials
engineering and years of experience. He studied bachelor’s degree in India and master’s
degree in US in materials engineering. His appreciation for materials includes ferrous &
non-ferrous metals, ceramics and composite materials. He is currently working at
Cummins; and has led a variety of high-level projects involving supporting major
customers, technical assignments to develop global suppliers, and multiple business trips
to China, UK and India; which have inspired him to gain a global perspective towards
international business practices and methodologies. He is strongly driven by customer
focus, production values and supplier interests. Learning finance and management
strategies from Booth to become a business leader-his ultimate goal!!!
