The DIBELS is a measuring tool used to help teachers understand what level students are
going to perform reading skills. The DIBELS is important because it features several different
aspects of reading and scores students on several different categories. Because of this, teachers
have the ability to focus on many different aspects of reading and reading skills rather than just
one. It is important that all students have the ability to work on each of these aspects of reading
so that they don’t fall too far behind and so they can advance in reading. The data obtained in the
Sample Assessment Data will be used to put into 3 sections. Each section will start at one of
three groups. Group A – Phonemic Awareness & Phonics, Group B – Reading Fluency and
Vocabulary and Group C – Reading Comprehension.
After reviewing the scores for all of the DIBELS measures, it was hard to find any sort of
